Kate Middleton's amazing jewellery
Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, is regarded as having great taste when it comes to her jewellery selection. From her favoured diamond drop earrings through to those pieces lent to her by the Queen, to the fabulous jewellery she wears that once belonged to her husband’s mother Princess Diana, Kate chooses some very precious gemstones.
Wearing a superb one-shouldered gown there was lots to love about the Duchess’s BAFTAs 2019 look for the red carpet. What stood out was the pair of dazzling drop earrings she was wearing. They were once Princess Diana’s. It was the first time Kate had been seen wearing these particular jewels, though she has worn several pieces from her late mother-in-law’s collection since her engagement to Prince William nine years ago.
What must be the best-known piece in Kate's jewellery collection is her engagement ring. Again it was originally selected by Princess Diana from Garrard of Mayfair, the former Crown jewellers . It is an oval sapphire in royal blue. The central stone is a 12-carat oval Ceylon sapphire, while the 14 solitaire diamonds around it are set in 18-carat white gold.
Prince William also gifted his children’s mother a diamond eternity band after Prince George was born. This ring is now on Kate’s finger beside her gold wedding band and engagement ring.
Although Kate is not often seen out wearing a watch, when she does it is a beautiful £5,000 Ballon Bleu Cartier timepiece featuring a sapphire matching the stone in her engagement ring.
In terms of necklaces Kate has a range including a Cartier Trinity 18-carat chain featuring pavé diamonds along with three intertwined circles of pink, yellow and white gold, and an Asprey 167 Button Pendant with amethyst stone surrounded by pave diamonds set in 18ct white gold.
She has been pictured in numerous bracelets including a spectacular diamond bracelet, which she wears with a pair of matching diamond earrings and is believed to have been a gift from her father-in-law.
She’s not one for chunky jewellery, but one piece seems to have a special place in her collection: a disc charm bracelet that was a wedding gift from the Duchess of Cornwall, who has a similar version of the bracelet.
All eyes are on Kate’s jewellery at the events she attends so it’s not surprising it is all absolutely exquisite.
