My Story

Hi, I’m Ruth—founder and face of I Dream of Silver.

Originally from the UK, I now call the beautiful city of Sydney home. Before settling here, I was lucky enough to live and work in vibrant cities like Hong Kong, New York, London, and Singapore. (Yes, I do love travelling!)

My love for jewellery started early. Saturday mornings were often spent on my mum’s bed with my sisters, giggling and trying on her stunning 1950s costume pieces. Those moments planted the seed of my passion for beautiful, unique jewellery—pieces with character and charm.

Fast forward to adulthood, and while some people collect shoes, I’ve always been drawn to jewellery. Not high-end diamonds, but delicate, pretty pieces that make you feel a little bit special just by putting them on. Throughout my corporate marketing career, jewellery was my treat—something just for me that added a little spark to my day.

But over time, the corporate world began to feel like a tight box I didn’t quite fit in. It was polished and structured, but there wasn’t much space for creativity. After a few personal ups and downs (as life tends to throw our way), I realised it was now or never. I’d spent years learning, growing, and helping build other people’s brands. Surely I could take all that experience and build something of my own.

Jewellery felt like the obvious path—it had always been there in the background, quietly calling to me. So I took the leap. It wasn’t easy. I had a lot to learn, especially about running a business online, but I believe that if we’re not learning, we’re not growing. I wouldn’t trade the journey for anything.

And here we are. Well… still getting there. Because there’s always more to learn, more to create, and more to offer. But I’m proud of what I Dream of Silver has become—a small, female-led business based in Sydney, passionate about helping women find jewellery they love. Pieces that feel thoughtful, personal, and a little bit special—without the luxury price tag.
